If I remember correctly Gordon Gekko once said in the film Wall Street,”Lunch is for whimps”. Well Mr. Gecko, I beg to differ, I find lunch rather agreeable especially when I miss breakfast because Sidewalker Jr. is dragging his feet on the way to school.
Despite being philosophically opposed to most things Gordon Gekko stands for, I found myself rather captivated by the lead character played by Michael Douglas in the 1987 hit movie Wall Street. His other famous quote being, “Greed for want of a better word, is good…” . There is some truth to that statement, if you want to use that statement as an advert to put bums on theater seats.
Here we stand 22 years later and Director Oliver Stone is shooting Wall Street II in the New York area. Nothing unusual with that right? Correct, unless you happen to have received an email from the production company looking for extras of English heritage to play some minor trading floor roles! I submitted my photograph and have high hopes of making the cut. I tick all the boxes in their selection criteria. I’m English and I live in the New York Metropolitan area. My only problem seems to be whether I should be listed in the credits as Luke Sidewalker or as…?
The original film was based on insider trading and tip-offs, one of the more famous lines was, “Blue Horseshoe loves Anacot Steel”. With Anacot Steel being a fictitious company of course. On reflection though over the interceding period Anacot Steel performed rather well when compared to Eastern Airlines, Enron, Worldcom, Lehman Bothers, Bear Stearns…

That would be so cool if you got the part!
…another Hoboken celebrity in the making!
Uh oh, is Mrs. Sidewalker going to have to give your ego another serious slapping?
Actually, I saw some filming going on this week around the corner from my apartment, lighting up the side of the Federal Reserve building… I thought it was more likely another Spiderman movie though.
Oh, EXCITING!!! And, yes, you have to be billed as Luke Sidewalker so we can say him we knew him when.
Not so sure there should be a Wallstreet 2. What’s it going to entail? Riches to rags?
